§ Sir C. YATEasked the Secretary of State for India whether he has received the views of the Government of India relative to the questions of the pension and remuneration in the Bengal Pilot Service; and what decision has been arrived at in the matter?
§ Mr. MONTAGUThe Bengal Pilot Service was placed on the ordinary pension scale applying to other Indian services towards the end of 1920. An increase was made in the guaranteed minimum rates of pay of most grades of the service towards the end of 1921. I have not received any further proposals from the Government of India. The question of applying the increased pension rates to the case of officers who retired before they were sanctioned has recently been referred to the Government of India; their views on it have not yet been received.
