§ Sir J. BAIRDOne or two permanent appointments have been made, but the majority (including such posts as are filled temporarily) have been held up pending the results of the competition for the appointment of women to the junior grade of the administrative class and to other grades superior to the clerical class. It is contemplated that there will be women establishment officers in the Treasury and in all Departments employing a considerable number of women, namely the Ministry of Pensions, General Post Office, Inland Revenue, Board of Education, Ministry of Labour, Admiralty, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Scottish Board of Health and Public Trustee. The rank will vary according to the extent and responsibility of the duties to be discharged.

§ Sir J. BAIRDAll grades of the general administrative, executive and clerical classes, set up by the Report of the Re-organisation Committee of the Civil Service National Whitley Council of the 17th February, 1920, which was adopted by the Government, are now open to women. The superseded general classes (First Division, Intermediate, Second Division and Assistant Clerks) had been closed to women.
