§ Mr. BANTONasked the Postmaster-General if he has received a communication from the Leicester City Council and the board of guardians, protesting against the proposal of closing the telegraph department during certain hours of the night, thus depriving the city and the surrounding area, including a number of small townships, of telegraph facilities; if so, has he reconsidered his proposal; and is he prepared to continue to grant the services this large community has hitherto enjoyed?
§ Mr. KELLAWAYThe question of closing the Leicester Head Telegraph Office during the night is being again examined in connection with the protests referred to, and I will write to the hon. Member in due course on the subject. I should perhaps, however, mention that the cost of keeping the Telegraph Instrument Room open all night has been out of all proportion to the use made of the facilities.
