Captain BENNasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether any negotiations have taken place with a view to restoring the pre-War cloak-room charges made to commercial travellers; what has been the result of such negotiations; and whether, in the interests of trade, he can make representations to the railway companies in the sense suggested?
§ Mr. NEALThe hon. and gallant Member will be aware that the Government's control of railways ceased in August last, and since then the Minister has had no jurisdiction over their charges. The companies are at liberty to make such reductions as they think fit, and I am sending the hon. and gallant Member's question to them for their consideration.
