§ Dr. MACNAMARAThe number of quarrymen registered as unemployed at 26th June was 3,565. This figure excludes irons-Cone quarrymen. Since the autumn of 1920 a sum of between 40 and 50 millions has been provided by the Government and by local authorities, with Government assistance, for relief works for the unemployed; much of it road work. The Ministry of Transport have invited local authorities to submit particulars of suitable road works which could be undertaken, with the assistance of State funds, during the autumn and winter.
