asked the Minister of Labour what were respectively, the totals of men and women unemployed and receiving unemployment relief on 1st April, 1st May, 1st June, and on 24th June, instant, respectively?

The following table shows the number of men and women registered at Employment Exchanges in Great Britain as wholly unemployed and on short-time respectively and the estimated number in receipt of benefit at the nearest available dates to those mentioned:

with the Treasury, who inform me that, on the assumption that the Bill becomes law in its present form, they will be prepared to exercise their discretion under this provision in a favourable manner in cases in which ex-members of the Royal Irish Constabulary take service in police forces which are not paid in whole or part out of moneys provided by the Parliaments of Great Britain or Ireland or out of funds assisted by the Exchequer of Great Britain or of Northern or Southern Ireland.
