216Waverage price paid for each commodity during the War, to take account of the variations in the quantities consumed at different dates, details of which are not available. The following table, however, shows, for each of the principal articles of food as to which figures are collected by the Ministry of Labour, the average retail prices paid by working class consumers in the United Kingdom generally (a) at July, 1914, (b) at various dates during the War, and (c) at 1st June, 1922. Corresponding figures for 1st July are now being compiled and will be published in the next issue of the Ministry of Labour Gazette, which will be issued about the 18th July:—
