§ Sir A. MONDSince the 1st September last loans to the amount of £12,829,000 have been sanctioned for public works (other than housing) by local authorities. Loans to the amount of nearly £600,000 have been approved for the execution by boards of guardians of work undertaken by them during recent months for the provision of employment, and temporary loans or overdrafts amounting to £4,745,000 have been sanctioned to enable boards of guardians to meet abnormal expenditure on the relief of unemployed persons.
