§ Captain BOWYERasked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that, owing to the rule that boys have to complete the term at school in 1220W which their 14th birthday occurs, many parents and boys are gravely handicapped in their search for the boy's employment and that many opportunities are thereby sacrificed; and will he so reorganise the Regulations that a parent may take a boy from school as soon as he reaches 14 years of age?
§ Mr. FISHERThe requirement, to which the hon. and gallant Member refers, is not a requirement of any Regulation made by the Board, but is contained in Section 9 of the Education Act, 1918, and could only be altered by legislation.
