asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport what is now the staff of his Department; and what further reduction of strength will be made at the end of the financial year?

The staff employed by the Ministry in Great Britain has been reduced during the past 12 months from a total of 702 to 487, which is the total at the present time. It is anticipated that1260W the total will be reduced to 463 by the end of the current financial year. These figures do not include the staff (mainly industrial) of local undertakings owned by the Ministry, the temporary staff specially recruited for road schemes for the relief of unemployment, and charwomen.
