§ Sir R. NEWMANasked the Minister of Health whether the approval of the medical advisers of the Ministry has been obtained for the order which has been sent to local health authorities prohibiting the grant of free milk to infants over one year of age, and of the order that mothers, instead of receiving milk, have to go to some centre and receive dinners which must not exceed 6d. per dinner in cost, including cost of administration and in consideration of the great amount of poverty arising out of the present large amount of unemployment; and is he aware that these orders are likely to have a very serious effect upon the health of the young children and mothers of the poorest classes, and will in the end result in a great loss to the nation?
