HC Deb 09 February 1922 vol 150 c344W
Earl WINTERTON

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that a registered letter containing £2 10s. was posted from H.M.S. "Iron Duke" at Malta to Mrs. Wells, 24, Portland Road, Worthing, on 12th May last year, and that although the latter has written several times to the General Post Office asking for the return of the money and has shown the receipt, which was given to the sender at the time of posting, to an official at the Post Office, nothing has been done in the matter; and whether he will take steps to have this money returned?

Mr. KELLAWAY

This registered letter was missing from a mail despatched from H.M.S. "Iron Duke" from Alexandria on 13th May last. Endeavours, which are still proceeding, have been made to trace the missing letter, but have not yet proved successful. The sum of £ the maximum amount payable under the Regulations, has now been forwarded to the sender.
