NIELDasked the Postmaster-General what is the total number of ex-service (Lytton) candidates who have been appointed to the General Post Office since the setting up of the Lytton Committee; how many of these men were 24 years of age and upwards and have been appointed clerical officers at the same salary as that paid to a youth of 18 years just entering the Service, i.e., £80 per annum plus bonus; and how many clerical officers under the age of 21 years, who entered the General Post Office through other channels than the special ex-service clerical class competitions, are receiving more than £80 per annum plus bonus?
