HC Deb 04 December 1922 vol 159 c1249W

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the arrangements under which indentured Chinese labourers are being taken to the island of Nauru are in the hands of British officials in Hong Kong?

No indentured Chinese labour proceeds to Nauru. The action of the Government of Hong Kong in connection with the free labour leaving the port for Nauru is limited to securing that it does so under proper conditions.
