Major BARNESasked the Minister of Health whether there are any means by which the guardians of a Poor Law union can obtain repayment of the cost of the maintenance in their hospital of a destitute person without dependants, in respect of whom health insurance benefit would be payable upon his discharge from the institution, but in whose case there is no prospect of discharge from the institution?
§ Sir A. MONDThere is no way in which, under existing legislation, a repayment can be obtained by the guardians in the case put. In the event of the death of an inmate, however, it is open to the guardians to make a claim upon any sum which may be due to his estate.
