HC Deb 11 April 1922 vol 153 c257W
Mr. MACLEAN

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether his attention has been drawn to the sentence of three months' hard labour passed upon four unemployed workmen at the Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday, 2nd March; what the charge was against these men; is he aware that the evidence of the assistant inspector of the poor showed that no violence had been done and neither money nor papers interfered with; and, in view of the feeling in the district, is he prepared to remit the sentence and release the four men?

Mr. MURRAY

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply from my right hon. Friend on 29th March in answer to a question on this subject by the hon. Member for Kirkcaldy (Mr. Kennedy).
