HC Deb 24 May 1921 vol 142 c49W
Major KELLEY

asked the Minister of Transport how long will be required to restore a normal passenger service on the railways after the coal strike; and whether it will now be possible to give holiday facilities at cheap fares this summer?

Mr. NEAL

The time required for the restoration of normal passenger services after the coal strike will depend mainly upon the stocks of coal then in the hands of the railway companies and the speed with which they can be replenished. It is not possible at present to say how long this may take; but I hope the existing situation will be relieved in time to make facilities at cheap rates possible during the summer holidays.
