HC Deb 03 March 1921 vol 138 c2042W
Mr. G. BARKER

asked the Secretary for Mines what provision has been made for supplying the inhabitants of Blaina, Abertill[...]ry, and Abercarn with coal for domestic use in view of the closing down of the coal mines in these areas?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I would remind the hon. Member of the Government announcement made on 2nd February, that all control over price and distribution of coal would be abolished as from 1st March. Ordinary consumers therefore should now obtain supplies—as in pre-control times—through the ordinary channels of trade. I do not know if colliery companies are making any arrangements for the supply of coal to miners while the collieries are at a standstill.
