§ Mr. MACQUISTENasked the Prime Minister the gross amount expended by the Central Control Board (Liquor Traffic) upon the acquisition of land, breweries, maltings, spirit stores, licensed and other properties (including licence values), and fixed plant in the years 1915–16, 1916–17, 1917–18, 1918–19, and 2047W 1919–20, respectively, together with the amount expended and outstanding during the current financial year in respect of such acquisitions?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWThe figures asked for in the first part of the question are given in Command Paper Cmd. 1018, published in November last, to which I would refer my hon. Friend. The corresponding figure for the current financial year 1920–21 will probably not exceed a total of £60,000, of which rather more than £50,000 has already been paid.
§ Mr. GRANTasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions if the Liquor Control Board have recently acquired for purposes of licensed premises a house in London Road, Carlisle, thus incurring needless expense in consequence of its reduction of licences in the district; and if such purchase foreshadows the Licensing Bill which the Government has promised?
