HC Deb 01 March 1921 vol 138 c1635W
Captain BOWYER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the War Office to what address and to whom application should be made for a grant from the funds administered by General Byng to help in purchasing a hut for ex-service men?

Sir A. WILLIAMSON

Application should be made to the Organising Secretary, United Services Fund, 29, Cromwell Road, South Kensington, S.W.7.

Lieut.-Colonel BELL

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that the question of granting a site at Tid-worth for a club for ex-service men is still unsettled, although application was made as long ago as July last, and that great disappointment is felt by the ex-service men of this district over the long delay; and if he will inquire into the matter and induce the War Office Lands Department to come to some decision in the matter?

Sir A. WILLIAMSON

The club have been offered facilities to begin building operations, but I understand that the delay is due to negotiations as to the amount of ground rent that should be paid. A suggestion has been put forward on behalf of the club that they should pay only a nominal or reduced rent in place of the normal market rent.
