HC Deb 21 June 1921 vol 143 c1113W
Mr. H. JONES

asked the Prime Minister what are the rules of retirement of officers in His Majesty's Public Record Office; and whether the age limit applies to the case of the Deputy-Keeper?

Mr. YOUNG

The staff of the Public Record Office, other than the Deputy-Keeper himself, are appointed by the normal procedure and under the normal conditions applicable to the Civil Service generally as to service and retirement. The Deputy-Keeper himself is, however, appointed by the Master of the Rolls with the approval of His Majesty (1 and 2 Victoria Cap. 94, Sec. 5), and is removable subject to His Majesty's approval by the Master of the Rolls.
