§ Mr. STEWARTasked the Minister of Food whether there have been several thousand tons of currants in store at their depot in the great float at Birken-head for a long period; whether, as currants deteriorate by keeping, he can see his way to dispose of them with as little delay as possible; and whether the whole contents of this depot can soon be got rid of and the money credited to the Exchequer?
§ Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSONThe Ministry had stocks of currants at Birkenhead to the amount of 4,500 tons. Every possible opportunity has been taken of marketing these, and the stock has now been reduced to 3,000 tons. I can assure my hon. Friend that the balance will be sold as quickly as possible.
