HC Deb 21 February 1921 vol 138 c579W
Mr. CAPE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether, whereas nine men witnessed the deaths of Joseph Tormey and Patrick Sloan, the military court of inquiry held in lieu of inquest was only prepared to hear the evidence of two, and as a protest against this restriction did the prisoners refuse to give evidence at all?

Mr. HENRY

There is not the slightest foundation for the suggestion that the court put any limit upon the numbers of witnesses it was prepared to hear. The sole ostensible reason for the unanimous refusal of the internees to appear before the court was an objection to the jurisdiction of the court.
