HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 c318W
Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any effective diplomatic representation can be made to the French Government with a view to obtaining a report from the French police regarding the disappearance of Mr. Ernest William Gourlay near Boulogne at the end of November, 1920; and whether Mr. Gourlay's relatives can be informed of any action which has been taken by the French or British police?

Mr. KELLAWAY

Mr. E. W. Gourlay's relatives have been in communication with this Department, and also with the British Vice-Consul at Boulogne, and are in possession of all the facts so far ascertainable. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs has already been in frequent communication with His Majesty's Embassy at Paris in regard to the case, but I will be glad to ask the Embassy for a further report. I should add that the British Consular officers at Lille and Boulogne have boon and are doing all they can on behalf of Mr. Gourlay's relatives.
