HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 c295W
Mr. WILSON-FOX

asked the Postmaster-General what sum will be spent during the current year out of the ordinary revenue of his Department upon capital account in respect of extensions and improvements of the telephone system; and whether he will supply a Return giving similar information in respect of each year since the telephone system was taken over by the Government?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

Capital expenditure on the development of the telephone service is not met out of revenue, but is provided out of loans authorised by special Money Acts. The amount expected to be spent in the current year up to 31st March next is £5,800,000. I am sending the hon. Member the figures for previous years.
