HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 c312W
Mr. J. DAVISON

asked the Secretary of State for War how much money is being saved weekly in wages under the short-time scheme at the War Department works at Bedenham, near Fareham, Hants; the number of additional civilian workmen for whom this sum is estimated to provide employment; and how many additional civilian workmen are now so employed?

Sir J. CRAIG

I have been asked to reply to this question. The Admiralty establishment at Bedenham forms part of the Naval Armament Supply Depot at Priddy's Hard, Gosport, and the figures relating to the Naval Armament Supply employés are not separated between Bedenham and the other parts of the establishment; assuming that my hon Friend refers to employment in the Admiralty Building Works Department at Bedenham, the weekly saving under the short-time scheme amounts to £130, and this sum is estimated to provide employment for 38 additional workmen, which number of additional workmen are employed in that Department at Bedenham.
