HC Deb 21 April 1921 vol 140 c2082W
Mr. MACLEAN

asked the Minister of Pensions whether A. E. Gerrard, No. 10638, 1st Royal Welsh Fusiliers, who was wounded and gassed seven times, and discharged from the Army on 27th November, 1915, as an incurable epileptic, has been on treatment for five years in various hospitals, and has now been granted a pension of 16s. per week until 6th September, 1921, and is at present having 6s. weekly deducted from his pension, on the ground that he has been paid at a higher rate than he was entitled to; and whether it is possible to give more sympathetic consideration to a case of this kind?

Mr. MACPHERSON

The facts of this case are not as stated in the question. Deductions have been made at the rate of 4s. a week, partly in connection with a prior award of pension and partly in connection with recoverable advances made to him by the Local War Pensions Committee. As a result of an adjustment now made, recovery will in future be confined to the advances, and will be made at the, rate of 3s. a week as from 27th April.
