§ Mr. WATERSONasked the Chief Secretary whether the recent Order issued by the General Officer in Command of the military, prohibiting the hearing of cases where forces of the Crown are alleged to have committed injury to persons or property, was issued with the knowledge and sanction of the authorities at Dublin Castle; whether it is to be understood that no claims for compensation or redress in the case of malicious injuries to persons or property in Ireland are now to be heard in any county court; and, if so, what procedure is proposed in substitution for the trying of such cases in the civil courts?
§ Mr. HENRYThe Order referred to was issued in the ordinary course in the exercise of the powers possessed by the military authorities under martial law.
