HC Deb 19 April 1921 vol 140 c1722W
Mr. HOGGE

asked the Chief Secretary what was the strength of the Royal Irish Constabulary on 1st January, 1920; how many dismissals and resignations have taken place between that date and 31st March, 1921; how many Irish recruits have joined in that period; how many recruits have joined from places outside Ireland: whether these are all permanent, recruits, and, if not, how many are temporary, and for what period; and what, is the present strength of the force, excluding in these figures the members of the auxiliary division?

Mr. HENRY

In view of the document, which I read yesterday in reply to a. question by my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Maidstone (Commander Bellairs), I feel sure that the House will support my right hon. Friend in the view that it would not, under present conditions, be in the public interest to give any further information with regard to the strength of the Royal Irish Constabulary.
