§ Mr. RONALD McNEILLasked the Minister of Pensions why questions in this House relating to the appeal tribunal's decisions in regard to pensions are answered by the Attorney-General; and which Department is responsible for dealing with such matters?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONThe War Pensions (Administrative Provisions) Act, 1919, provides that the pensions appeal tribunals shall be under the jurisdiction of the Lord Chancellor. The tribunals are therefore independent of my Department, and I have no control over their proceedings or responsibility for their decisions. By arrangement, questions asked in this House regarding the work of the tribunals are answered on behalf of the Lord Chancellor by my right hon. Friend the Attorney-General.
