Sir J. D. REESasked the President of the Board of Trade what action has been taken, or is contemplated, upon the Report on motor fuel prepared by a select committee appointed by the Standing Committee on the Investigation of Prices which was received by the Government as long ago as last February?
§ Sir P. LLOYD-GREAMEDetailed inquiries are being pursued by an officer attached to the Fuel Research Board as to the possibility of fostering the production of power alcohol and an interim report by the Fuel Research Board on the subject has been published recently. Provisions with the same object have been included in Section 11 of the Finance Act,1104W 1920. As I explained in reply to a question asked by the hon. Member for West Leyton (Mr. Newbold), on the 19th July, the Government did not see their way to take any action in the direction of fixing prices in view of our almost complete dependence on foreign sources of supply.
