HC Deb 30 November 1920 vol 135 cc1132-3W
Mr. RAFFAN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland in which counties recruiting for the new special constabulary has now been initiated; and how many volunteers have been obtained in the case of each county respectively?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

Recruiting for the new special constabulary has started in the following counties, Tyrone, Belfast City, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, and Londonderry City. I do not think that it would be in the public interest at the present time to give the number of applications for enrolment that have been received; but the hon. Gentleman will be glad to learn that the response to the call for volunteers for this force has been eminently satisfactory.
