asked the President of the Board of Education whether a pamphlet entitled "Hygiene of Food and Drink" has been issued by the Board of Education for the use of teachers in schools; how the statistics were obtained; and whether public money is being used in this way for teetotal propaganda?
The syllabus, to which the hon. Member refers, was issued by the Board of Education in July last and was a revision and expansion of the syllabus of lessons on "Temperance" issued by the Board of Education in 1909. The various sources from which the statistics quoted were obtained are indicated in the notes to the syllabus. The syllabus is sold at a price of 2d. a copy, which is designed to cover the expenses of printing and distribution.

asked the President of the Board of Education whether it is the policy of his Board to advocate total abstinence; and, if not, why he has issued the pamphlet, entitled "The Hygiene of Food and Drink," for the assistance of teachers?1147W
