Mr. A. T. DAVIESasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the necessary steps have now been taken to give effect to the policy laid down in his Minute, House of Commons Paper 918, of concentrating in the valuation office the valuation work which falls to be performed on behalf of Government Departments generally; and, if not, what is the reason for continuing the waste of money on overlapping and unnecessary staffs?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe best means of giving effect to the policy of concentrating in a single Department the permanent work of valuation on behalf of the Government is under consideration.
