§ Mr. LAMBERTasked the Secretary of State for War whether the monthly estimate of £82,000 for the Air Force in Mesopotamia is included in the approximate monthly cost of £2,500,000 for the troops there; similarly, are the Air Force monthly estimates of £4,000 for Constantinople, £80,500 for Egypt, and £18,250 for Palestine, included in the sums of £495,000, £625,000, and £610,000, which he recently estimated as the approximate monthly cost of the troops in these countries; and whether these sums represent total costs, or are there other sums defrayed by Naval and other Votes?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLThe figures for Army expenditure quoted do not include the Air Force; they represent the estimated current cost of the military forces, excluding capital expenditure and pensions. So far as I am aware, there are no other Votes bearing charges for the British fighting forces in these areas.
