asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether Treasury sanction has been obtained for payment by cash for overtime performed by Irish prison warders; whether such payment was retrospective as from the 1st April, 1919; and, if so, when the arrears due to the warders at the Mount joy Prison will be paid?

Authority for retrospective payments on account of overtime, as from 1st April, 1919, has now boon received. Such payments will be made to the staff at Mountjoy Prison within the next few days.
