HC Deb 25 November 1920 vol 135 cc669-70W
Viscount WOLMER

asked the Minister of Labour how many ex-service men are being trained in the building trade in accordance with the Government's new scheme?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I am not clear whether my Noble Friend refers to the Ministry of Labour Training Schemes, but the latest figures show that on 26th October there were 4,132 disabled men in training for the building trades under these schemes. I may add that the negotiations between the Government and the building trades for increasing the supply of labour by the admission of fit ex-service men for work on the national housing programme are proceeding, and that every effort is being made to expedite a solution.
