HC Deb 25 November 1920 vol 135 c657W
Mr. FORESTIER-WALKER

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that a clerk in Holy Orders, or a regular minister of a dissenting congregation, is, under the Municipal Corporation Act, 1882, disqualified from being elected as a borough councillor; and whether the Government would, at an early date, bring in a short Bill removing the disqualification as from the 1st November, 1920; or, failing this, would the Government give the necessary facilities to a Private Member to do so?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. With regard to the second and third parts, I see no prospect of being able to find time for passing such a Bill during the present Session.
