HC Deb 24 November 1920 vol 135 c448W
Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he is aware that the auxiliary police in Ireland have commenced to search women and girls in the streets in certain parts of the country; and whether he can arrange for female searchers to be employed for the purpose and for the searching to be done in private?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

I am not aware of cases of women or girls being searched except by women searchers. Searching of women except by women is unauthorised. Where it is necessary to search women no man is allowed to be present at the search.
