HC Deb 24 November 1920 vol 135 c469W
Mr. T. A. LEWIS

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture if he will say what is the number of men settled on the land in Wales under the Land Settlement Act; how many of these are ex-service men; and what is the average price per acre paid for the land?

Sir A. BOSCAWEN

628 men, of whom 544 are ex-service and 84 civilians, have been actually settled in Wales under the Land Settlement (Facilities) Act. Sufficient land has, however, already been acquired by councils to provide holdings for a further 600 men as soon as the necessary cottages and buildings have been erected. The average price of the land purchased is £34 15s. per acre.
