HC Deb 23 November 1920 vol 135 c243W
Mr. NEWBOULD

asked the Minister of Food whether he can see his way to reduce still further the price of sugar; and, if not, whether the price is to be maintained because of the panic purchases made by the Sugar Commission last spring?

Mr. McCURDY

In reply to the first part of the question I must refer the hon. Member to the answer given on 1st November to the hon. Member for Grimsby. With regard to the remainder of the question I cannot, within the limits of this answer discuss the policy of the Sugar Commission, but I must dissent strongly from the suggestion that panic purchases were made by the Commission last spring or at any other time.
