Major HENDERSONasked the Minister of Pensions whether the datum line of what constitutes a necessitous case, as laid down by the Special Grants Committee, is, or has been, subject to variation according to the rise or fall in the cost of living?
§ Major TRYONMy hon. and gallant Friend no doubt has in mind cases in which the discretionary powers of the Special Grants Committee are limited by a comparison between present income and pre-War income. In such cases the Committee are authorised to make allowance for the rise in prices.
