§ Mr. LUNNasked the Secretary of State for India whether it is proposed to continue the Government control of rice in Burma; if so, whether export licences will be issued to Burmese as well as to European merchants; and whether he will consider the expediency of the local government appointing a committee on which the cultivators and Burmese merchants shall have representatives for advising the Rice Controller?
§ Mr. FISHERNo proposals have been received from, the Government of India for the control of the coming Burma rice crop. I shall, however, communicate the hon. Member's suggestions to the Government of India for consideration in the event of it being found necessary to continue control.
