HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 c2246W
Mr. A. HERBERT

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the years spent at the War are not being counted for the seniority and pension of Civil Servants who entered the Civil Service at the conclusion of hostilities?

Mr. BALDWIN

The relative seniority of new entrants under the reconstruction schemes of competition is determined by age and not by date of entry, and increments on the approved scales have been authorised by way of compensation for the suspension of competition during the War. There is, however, no power in these cases to count war service for civil pensions.
