§ Mr. HURDasked the Minister of Labour whether, in order to help ex-soldiers, he will alter the classification of motor repairing as skilled engineering and give those whose apprenticeship was interfered with by the War, either in an engineering shop or motor-repairing business, the full advantage of Government assistance to apprentices?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAA considerable number of ex-service apprentices in the motor repairing trade have already been brought under the scheme for the engineering industry. As part of their training they require instruction in operations which belong to the engineering trade. It would, I am advised, not be possible to prepare a scheme for motor mechanics only, but the matter shall be looked at again.
