HC Deb 05 May 1920 vol 128 cc2097-8W
Mr. LORT-WILLIAMS

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether there has been any departure from the practice or Regulation, as announced by the present Minister of Labour on the 5th November, 1919, under which all naval ratings who were serving on or before the 11th November, 1918, were entitled to a civilian suit or an allowance of £2 12s. 6d. in lieu, on discharge for any reason?

Sir J. CRAIG

The position is the same as on 5th November, 1919. The practice of granting a civilian suit or an allowance of £2 12s. 6d. in lieu on discharge for any reason in the case of men who were serving on or before 11th November, 1918, came into effect on that date and does not apply to men discharged previously.
