HC Deb 04 May 1920 vol 128 cc1908-9W
Brigadier-General SURTEES

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if his attention has been drawn to the fact that widows with grown-up children, some of whom have been disabled by the War, and who are being wholly or partially maintained by such widowed mothers, are being classed as single persons and have to pay on a higher rate than married couples; and if he will reconsider the matter in order to obviate this hardship?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to my reply to his question of the 22nd April on this subject.
