HC Deb 28 June 1920 vol 131 c51W

Brigadier-General WIGAN asked the Secretary of State for War whether any decision has been come to regarding the retention of the pre-War mess dress for officers; and whether he is aware that a very large number of officers favour a blue serge jacket for mess dress as being less expensive and more serviceable than the former mess dress?

Mr. CHURCHILL: No, Sir; the question of the re-introduction of mess dress has not yet been settled. With regard to the first part of the hon. and gallant Member's question, I understand that in some units the blue serge jacket is at present being worn at mess.
