HC Deb 28 June 1920 vol 131 c55W

Commander BELLAIRS asked the Minister of Labour if he can state, in regard to ex-service men and women, how many are claiming Out-of-Work Donation; how many of these belong to the building trade; and what proportion belong to a trade union?

Dr. MACNAMARA: On 11th June there were 187,583 ex-service men, and 1,187 ex-service women, claiming Out-of-Work Donation. Of these, 7,489, the great majority of whom were unskilled, were classified under building and construction of works. I am unable to state the proportion belonging to a trade union.
