HC Deb 28 June 1920 vol 131 c56W

Mr. SWAN asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the announcement in regard to the policy of His Majesty's Government made by the Acting Civil Commissioners in Mesopotamia, it is the intention of the British Government to withdraw its troops from Mesopotamia as soon as it has been developed as a self-governing State, able to stand by itself, in the same way as it has done in Egypt?

The PRIME MINISTER: It is certainly the intention of His Majesty's Government to withdraw troops from Mesopotamia as soon as the condition of the country may permit.
